Fortum chose Process Vision GENERIS solution for its future business platform

26/November/2010 13:02

Fortum and Process Vision have signed today a contract for the large scale meter data management (MDM) system including professional services for consultation, commissioning and testing the system as well as migrating the data from Fortum’s existing systems. The main objective of the project is to enable Fortum to prepare for the new requirements of year 2013 set by the new Finnish regulations for meter data management. The main objective of the project is to enable Fortum to prepare for the new requirements of year 2013 set by the new Finnish regulations for meter data management. The system delivery complies with the needs of invoicing hourly measured electricity customers and performing the electricity supplier’s balance settlement resulting from the grid companies’ obligation to implement hourly measurements of electricity consumption for minimum 80% of the delivery points by the end of the year 2013.

“Process Vision has been system vendor and professional service supplier for Fortum for several years. We have worked together in a number of business areas to improve our business processes. Therefore this project is a natural continuation to our on-going work”, says Pamela Molander, Project Manager at Fortum. “The drastic increase on measurement volumes has a strong impact to our business processes: The new GENERIS system has a high performance for importing, validating and processing the data in narrow time windows. After the implementation of hourly meter readings and implementing systems to manage these we can also offer more tailored contracts, based on hourly data, to our customers” continues Ms. Molander.

“This MDM system delivery to Fortum’s Finnish electricity retail business is significant for us and we are pleased that Fortum selected our solution”, says Simo Makkonen, CEO of Process Vision. “We also see that this delivery enhances the utilization of smart metered data in the Finnish energy market. We are proud to be promoting this development with Fortum”, declares Simo Makkonen.
